Working as a freelance composer is filled with an impossible to measure amount of posts, auditions and unread emails in which you desperately describe why you should be the one chosen for the job. It’s a predicament that can easily turn gut-wrenching, but every now and then comes a brief or a description of a project that fits your creative needs. It’s irrelevant if you’ll get the part, you just want to try it.
One such project was a short film that wanted to dive into the topic of interdependence between three close friends. Each person had their individualistic traits and needs, but whenever they interacted with any (or both) of the others, they would be significantly influenced. It was like colors. Mixing two (or three) creates a new one, but if you look hard enough you can see the components.
I wanted to create that with the music. The brief contained some visualisations, so the style and atmosphere of the piece is trying to mimic that.
